Please watch the video to understand another aspect of Islamic Law (Sharia) being promoted in publicly funded schools. Your tax dollars at work! Here's a copy of the letter I wrote to the principal and cc'd the local Conservative MP: "Dear Principal, I have learned that an announcement was made to the entire school wishing Muslims a happy Eid and underlining the importance of this celebration to the non Muslims. As much as I understand the good intention behind the gesture, I have watched as Christmas, Hanukkah, and Easter have all been erased from school announcements in the past decade. Your own school district website now refers to the Christmas holidays as "Winter vacation". By promoting one faith (Islam) over all other faiths, the school is betraying it's secular vocation. Worse, the school is now applying Islamic Law, the Sharia, which is incompatible with our Canadian legal system. We have a law system in place and it needs to apply the same Canadian law to all Canadians. The reason I mention you are applying the Sharia when the school makes an Eid announcement while not mentioning other religious holidays is as follows: The Sharia has provisions for according privileges to Muslims above non Muslims as well as making it a punishable offense for non Muslims to celebrate their religious holidays in the presence of Muslims. While the school is not at the "punishable offense" stage yet, it will be the next step if we continue to allow privileges for Islam while erasing our Judeo-Christian heritage. The scope of this letter is to address the specific Eid announcement but the Sharia is a much larger issue. The District School Board needs to uphold the separation of state and religion and stick to its secular vocation. Please accept my kindest regards and willingness to help in this situation. Sincerely, Julie Mora"
